Recovering in the post-COVID-19 period, Vietnamese seafood enterprises forecasted to receive many good news on exports continuously.
According to a report of the Import-Export Department (Ministry of Industry and Trade), Vietnamese seafood enterprises have suffered great losses from COVID-19. However, the level of influence has decreased, from May onwards sales of seafood companies have inched up as the number of applications increases massively.
Positive signal
This is good news for Vietnamese seafood exporters when the countries are also in the period of stimulating economic recovery. Accordingly, Vietnam’s seafood export volume in April reached 150,000 tons, worth US $ 600 million, up 1% in volume, but down 5% in value compared to the same period in 2019.
From January to April 2020, seafood export will reach 553,100 tons, worth US $ 2,215 billion, down 3.4% in volume and 8.5% in value over the same period in 2019. Forecast, export Vietnam’s seafood exports will continue to recover and accelerate from the second quarter of 2020.
A big chance
Facing these positive signals, the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP) said that the development of COVID-19 is still very complicated in countries around the world, therefore, in the next few months, The export model is definitely continuing to be affected, so enterprises need to prepare long-term strategies.
Enterprises may fall into a state of decline, due to inadequate orders, difficult goods transport, especially the EU market has not been able to recover, making the import-export turnover of seafood industry insignificant.
